Kateřina Soumarová

Kateřina Soumarová has been playing the violin from the age of four. She has been winning national and international competitions in both solo and chamber music. ZUS National Competitions, Prague Junior Note, Josef Muzika Violin Competition, Filcikova Chrast, Archetti in Moravia to name a few.

She performed as the soloist with an orchestra at the concert of winners from the Concerto Bohemia radio competition which was broadcast on National Television. Her resume also includes a collaboration with the professor of Vienna University, Jela Špitková.

Having studied at the Prague Conservatory under the direction of Professor Jaroslav Foltýn, she performed Jean Sibelius' Concerto in D minor as a soloist with the philharmonic. This was a concert performed by the winners of the international talent competition Archetti in Moravia, where she was awarded first prize in the Future Master category.

Having received a full scholarship at the Royal Conservatoire in England Katerina continued her studies in Violin Performance and regularly worked with the Symphonic Orchestra. During the time spent in England she enjoyed promoting her heritage and culture which became the inspiration for this project.
